We’ve enjoyed a rare weekend off following our last fixture against Lifton, marking the first time we’ve faced them since joining Division 1 East. Across the 90 minutes, we felt our performance deserved the 3-1 win. We started brightly, keeping possession and creating good chances, but we were wasteful in front of goal. Lifton nearly punished us, finding the back of the net, only to be flagged offside.
During a tough 10-minute spell, we struggled with turnovers in the middle third, trying to force play when patience might have served us better. Our first goal came a bit fortuitously after a mix-up in Lifton’s backline, giving Ross London the chance to open the scoring. From there, we regained control, and it wasn’t long before Ross doubled our lead with a well-placed header from a corner. At 2-0 by halftime, we felt we could have been further ahead given the chances created.
In the second half, we continued to dominate possession, with Ross completing his hat trick in a well-constructed move—possibly his third or fourth of the season! Lifton did manage to pull one back after a lapse in concentration, which was frustrating for the team. However, with other top teams dropping points, the weekend turned out to be positive for us overall.
During our break, results continued to go our way, further strengthening our current position. The rest also gave our players a chance to recover from a packed start to the season. This weekend, we welcome Saltash Borough, a team from the league above. They had a comfortable win over us last season in the cup, but we enter Saturday’s game full of confidence and look forward to testing ourselves against higher opposition.
Thank you for your support—enjoy the game!
